If you are selling a property in the UK there is a legal requirement to obtain an Energy Performance Certificate. The requirement exists whether you are selling your property with a High Street Estate Agent, an On-Line Estate Agent such as eMoov or Purplebricks or whether you are selling privately.

The Law states that from the moment you market your property, you have a 7 day period in which to obtain your EPC. If you are unable to obtain an EPC for any reason then a further period of 21 days is allowed provided you are able to confirm that you have commissioned an EPC.
